yA sRshTih srashTur AdyA vahati vidhihutam yA havir yA cha hotr
ye dve kAlam vidattah shruti vishaya guNA yA stitA vyApya vishvam
yAm Ahuh sarva bIja bhU prakRtir iti yayA prANinah prANavantah
pratyakshAbhih prapannas tanubhir avatu vastAbhir ashTAbhir IshaH.
That visible form water which was the first creation of the creator;that fire which bears the oblation offered according to rule; and that visible form,the priest,who is the offerer of the oblation;those two visible forms -the sun and the moon,which regulate time;the space which pervades all, having the quality of sound perceptible by the ear; thatearth,which they call the originator of all created things; that air by which living beings are furnished with breath; may Isha the supreme Lord Shivamanifested in these eight visible forms preserve you. ekaishvarya sthitatopi praVata bahuphalo yatt svayam krttivAsAA
kAntA saMmishra dehopya viShaya manasAM yaH purastAdyatInAm
ashTAbhir yasya kRtsnaM jagadapi tanubhir bibhrato nAbhimAnaH
sanmArgAlokanAya vyapanayatu sa nastAmsIm vRttim IshaH.
Although has excellent wealth,still wears only an elephant’s skin;although has a body merged with his wife’s,still invisible even to the renunciates; although pervades the entire universe and wears it through his eight bodies,still without any pride;-may that Parameshwara remove the thamas-gross thoughts from our minds sothat we can see the san mArga- the right path.- MAlavigAgni mitram opening verse.
