स्वयं पञ्चमुखः पुत्रौ गजाननषडाननौ।
दिगम्बरः कथं जीवेत् अन्नपूर्णा न चेद्गृहे॥
svayaṁ pañcamukhaḥ putrau gajānanaṣaḍānanau |
digambaraḥ kathaṁ jīvet annapūrṇā na cedgṛhe ||
"Five-mouthed himself , and sons the elephant-faced (गणेशः elephant-mouthed) and the six-faced (कार्तिकः, six-mouthed). How would Shiva (दिगम्बरः) survive if Annapurna (पार्वती) was not at home?"
पार्वती फणि बालेन्दु भस्म मन्दाकिनी युता।
अपवर्ग प्रदा मूर्तिः कथं स्यात् तव शंकर॥
pārvatī phaṇi bālendu bhasma mandākinī yutā |
apavarga pradā mūrtiḥ kathaṁ syāt tava śaṁkara ||
"Shiva ! Your form is full of pa varga (पार्वती फणि बालेन्दु भस्म मन्दाकिनी).
How shall that form be the bestower of apavarga (मोक्ष)?
[He is known to be the bestower of मोक्ष but how can he give that?]"
पिनाक फणि बालेन्दु भस्म मन्दाकिनी युता।
प वर्ग रचिता मूर्तिः अपवर्ग प्रदास्तु नः॥
pināka phaṇi bālendu bhasma mandākinī yutā |
pa varga racitā mūrtiḥ apavarga pradāstu naḥ ||
"Equipped with a spear, snake, the crescent of the moon, ashes and the ganga
May this idol composed from the 'pa varga' (the consonants प फ ब भ म) lead us to heaven (अपवर्ग)."
