क्रोधं त्यजेत्

In Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna enumerates the cause and the dire consequences of anger:
ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंसः सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते।
सङ्गात्सञ्जायते कामः कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते॥ २-६२॥
क्रोधाद्भवति संमोहः संमोहात्स्मृतिविभ्रमः।
स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति॥ २-६३॥
dhyāyato viṣayānpuṁsaḥ saṅgasteṣūpajāyate |
saṅgātsañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmātkrodho’bhijāyate || 2-62||
krodhādbhavati saṁmohaḥ saṁmohātsmṛtivibhramaḥ|
smṛtibhraṁśād buddhināśo buddhināśātpraṇaśyati || 2-63||
The man dwelling on sense-objects develops attachment for them; from attachment springs up desire, and from desire ( unfulfilled ) ensues anger.
From anger arises infatuation; from infatuation, confusion of memory; from confusion of memory, loss of reason; and from loss of reason one goes to complete ruin.

काम एष क्रोध एष रजोगुणसमुद्भवः।
महाशनो महापाप्मा विद्‌ध्येनमिह वैरिणम्‌॥ ३-३७॥
kāma eṣa krodha eṣa rajoguṇasamudbhavaḥ |
mahāśano mahāpāpmā viddhyenamiha vairiṇam || 3-37||
It is desire begotton of the element of Rajas, which appears as wrath; nay, it is the insatiable and grossly wicked. Know this to be the enemy in this case (which causes man to err).

Lord Krishna also indicates anger as one of the attributes of those with Asura tendencies:
दम्भो दर्पोऽभिमानश्च क्रोधः पारुष्यमेव च।
अज्ञानं चाभिजातस्य पार्थ संपदमासुरीम्‌॥ १६-४॥
dambho darpo’bhimānaśca krodhaḥ pāruṣyameva ca |
ajñānaṁ cābhijātasya pārtha saṁpadamāsurīm|| 16-4||
Hypocrisy, arrogance and pride, and anger, sternness and ignorance too– these are the marks of him, who is born with demoniac properties.
अहङ्कारं बलं दर्पं कामं क्रोधं च संश्रिताः।
मामात्मपरदेहेषु प्रद्विषन्तोऽभ्यसूयकाः॥१६-१८॥
ahaṅkāraṁ balaṁ darpaṁ kāmaṁ krodhaṁ ca saṁśritāḥ|
māmātmaparadeheṣu pradviṣanto’bhyasūyakāḥ||16-18||
Given over to egotism, brute force, arrogance, lust and anger etc. and calumniating others, they hate Me (the inner controller of all), dwelling in their own bodies as well as in those of others.
त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारं नाशनमात्मनः।
कामः क्रोधस्तथा लोभस्तस्मादेतत्त्रयं त्यजेत्‌॥१६-२१॥
trividhaṁ narakasyedaṁ dvāraṁ nāśanamātmanaḥ |
kāmaḥ krodhastathā lobhastasmādetattrayaṁ tyajet||16-21||
Desire, anger and greed– this triple gate of hell brings about the ruination of the soul. Therefore, one should avoid all these three.
Shri Krishna also comments on who is eligible for moksha — the one who has overcome anger (and other bad qualities!):
अहङ्कारं बलं दर्पं कामं क्रोधं परिग्रहम्।
विमुच्य निर्ममः शान्तो ब्रह्मभूयाय कल्पते॥१८-५३॥
ahaṅkāraṁ balaṁ darpaṁ kāmaṁ krodhaṁ parigraham|
vimucya nirmamaḥ śānto brahmabhūyāya kalpate||18-53||
Having given up egotism, violence, arrogance, lust, anger and luxuries, devoid of feeling of me and tranquil in heart — such a man becomes qualified for oneness with Brahma, who is Truth, Consciousness and Bliss.

अभिवादनशीलस्य

अभिवादनशीलस्य नित्यं वृद्धोपसेविनः।
चत्वारि तस्य वर्धन्ते आयुर्विद्या यशो बलम्॥
abhivādanaśīlasya nityaṁ vṛddhopasevinaḥ|
catvāri tasya vardhante āyurvidyā yaśo balam||
"One who is by nature respecting and serving elders.
Four things accrue to him, long-life, knowledge, fame and strength"

विनयस्तत्र सुदुर्लभः

नरत्वं दुर्लभं लोके विद्या तत्र सुदुर्लभा।
शीलं च दुर्लभं तत्र विनयस्तत्र सुदुर्लभः॥
In this world, to take birth in the human race is rare, wherein to obtain knowledge and wisdom is even harder. Further to have a noble character is harder and further still is modesty.

सर्वाः सुखमया दिशाः

अकिञ्चनस्य दान्तस्य शान्तस्य समचेतसः।
मया सन्तुष्तमानसः सर्वाः सुखमया दिशाः॥
akiñcanasya dāntasya śāntasya samacetasaḥ|
mayā santuṣtamānasaḥ sarvāḥ sukhamayā diśāḥ||
For a humble one, whose passions are curbed, even-tempered, self-controlled, even-tempered always content — the whole world is full of happiness.
