गते शोको न कर्तव्यः

गते शोको न कर्तव्यो भविष्यं नैव चिन्तयेत्।
वर्तमानेन कालेन वर्तयन्ति विचक्षणाः॥

"One should not be sorrowful about what is past, nor should one worry
too much about the future. The wise men operate by the present times."

सहसा विदधीत न क्रियाम्

सहसा विदधीत न क्रियामविवेकः परमापदां पदम्।
वृणुते हि विमृश्यकारिणम् गुणलुब्धाः स्वयमेव सम्पदः॥
sahasā vidadhīta na kriyāmavivekaḥ paramāpadāṁ padam|
vṛṇute hi vimṛśyakāriṇam guṇalubdhāḥ svayameva sampadaḥ||

“One should not act in haste (without judgment). Bad judgment is the seat of greatest disasters.
Liking the virtue (of good judgment) wealth, itself, takes (goes) to them who think and act.”

सूर्योदये वाऽस्तमिते शयानम्

कुचैलिनं दन्तमलोपधारिणं बह्वाशिनं निष्ठुरभाषिणं च।
सूर्योदये वाऽस्तमिते शयानं विमुञ्चति श्रीरपि चक्रपाणिनम्।।१५.४।।
–चाणक्य नीतिः (पञ्चदशोऽध्यायः)

kucailinam dantamalopadhāriṇam bahvāśinam niṣṭhurabhāṣiṇaṁ ca|
sūryodaye vāstamite śayānaṁ vimuñcati śrīrapi cakrapāṇinam||15-4||
–cāṇakya nītiḥ (pañcadaśo’dhyāyaḥ)

“He who wears unwashed and unclean clothes, does not clean his teeth, eats too much, speaks harshly and unfeelingly, and sleeps at dawn and dusk is forsaken by Goddess Lakshmi even if he be Lord Vishnu [who is her own husband].”
